The case of the ‘ghost ship’ found

The Enigma of the ‘Ghost Ship’ Discovered After Nine Years Has Been Resolved.

A vessel, long forsaken and drifting for several years, has recently been found stranded on a beach in Burma, completely devoid of crew or cargo. Last Thursday, officials from the Thongwa municipality shared news of this unexpected discovery on social media, revealing a sizable, corroded ship.

This so-called “ghost ship” was situated near Rangoon, aimlessly floating and lacking any crew or freight. Upon inspection by authorities, only five fishermen were discovered aboard. The fishermen informed the BBC that they had entered the ship merely out of curiosity, seeking to explore it and potentially benefit from maritime regulations.

The vessel referred to as the Sam Ratulangi PB 1600 is currently under investigation regarding its origins. The enigma surrounding this ship is captivating, particularly as it seems to have been en route to Bangladesh’s bustling ship-breaking sector. Annually, numerous commercial ships are dismantled at the port of Chittagong, which is the second-largest city in the nation. It is suspected that the Sam Ratulangi PB 1600 was intended to be among those vessels scheduled for dismantling.
