Apparently, The U.S. Department of State has led warnings in accordance to the increment in criminal activities and violations occurring in Mexico. Travelers are warned off even going into the most crowded tourist zones in Mexico as the crime levels are increasing excessively there. The Canadian Government also backs U.S. on this matter.Â
An advisory statement was issued on August 17, 2022, that explained how crime has become normal in Mexico. Criminal activities such as, kidnapping, homicide, robbery and carjacking have increased in Mexico. In addition, the U.S. government stated that they have “limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Mexico.”
Even if you have to travel to Mexico, you’re advised not to get out of shelter in after-dark hours. Travelling alone has also been advised to prohibit from. Using random taxi’s is also regarded as dangerous and using authentic cab services such as Uber are advised.
Travellers are advised not to take a journey from “U.S.-Mexico border to or from the interior parts of Mexico, except daytime travel within Baja California and between Nogales and Hermosillo on Mexican Federal Highway 15D, and between Nuevo Laredo and Monterrey on Highway 85D.” the statements passed by the U.S. Government stated.
Six States Not To Travel To
The Mexico Travel Advisory laid out bye the U.S. Department of State also urges travellers to avoid six states. Those states are Zacatecas, Sinaloa, Colima, Tamaulipas, Guerrero and Michoacán.
Apart from the aforementioned states, travellers are also advised to practice maximum precautions when in the states mentioned below.
