In a recent social media post, Jennifer Garner announced the peaceful passing of her father, William John “Billy” Garner, who was 85 years old. William earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and subsequently worked for Union Carbide.
Jennifer, along with her sisters Susannah and Melissa, and their mother Pat, who had been married for nearly 60 years, expressed immense pride in their father. With profound sorrow, Jennifer shared, “My dad died in peace on Saturday afternoon.” She noted that they sang “Amazing Grace” with him prior to his departure. Although he lived a healthy and fulfilling life, she acknowledged that while his death is not a tragedy, the process of grieving will inevitably follow.
She expressed her gratitude to her father for his “gentle disposition and steadfast resilience,” as well as to the medical personnel at City of Hope and Charleston Area Medical Center for their compassionate care. She reflected on his legacy, stating, “My sisters and I will forever share stories about how wonderful our father was.”
Patricia Ann Garner, Jennifer’s mother, was raised on a farm in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. On January 1, 2024, Jennifer’s parents marked their 59th wedding anniversary. In appreciation for their unwavering love and support, she expressed her gratitude by stating, “Happy 59th wedding anniversary to my loving and sweet parents!” She acknowledged their efforts in ensuring that her sisters and she enjoyed a safe and joyful childhood, addressing them as Mom and Dad.
